Frequently Asked Questions — Navy Slate Photo (English)
Everything candidates need to know about Indian Navy Agniveer SSR / MR slate photo requirements, INET 2026
upload rules, and how to use this tool.
What should be written on the slate in an Indian Navy
photo?
According to the Indian Navy Agniveer SSR/MR official notification, you must write
your full name (as per Aadhaar) and the Date of Photograph (DOP) in white
chalk on a black slate, in capital letters. The DOP must be in DD-MM-YYYY format — e.g.,
25-03-2026. This tool prints both automatically in the correct format, eliminating any chance of error.
What is the correct date format for the Navy slate photo
(DOP)?
The correct format is DD-MM-YYYY — for example,
25-03-2026. Formats like MM/DD/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD are incorrect and will cause your
application photo to be rejected by the Navy portal. This tool converts your date picker selection to
DD-MM-YYYY automatically before printing it on the slate.
What is the file size and format required for the Navy slate
photo?
The joinindiannavy.gov.in portal requires the slate photo to be between 10
KB and 50 KB in JPG/JPEG format. Files below 10 KB or above 50 KB will be rejected
at upload. This tool automatically compresses your image to land within the 10–50 KB window every time,
regardless of the original file size or format.
Do I need to buy a physical black slate board for the Navy
photo?
No. You do not need a physical slate. This tool digitally
superimposes a black slate — with your name and DOP printed in white chalk-style text — onto your photo.
Upload a photo where your hands are in front of your chest, drag the digital slate onto your hands, resize it
to fit, and download. The result looks realistic and fully satisfies all Navy photo requirements.
Can the same slate photo be used for Navy SSR, MR, and SSR
Med?
Yes. The slate photo specifications are identical for all three
Agniveer posts — SSR, MR, and SSR (Med). All three require: black slate, white chalk text, full name + DOP in
DD-MM-YYYY format, 10–50 KB JPG, white or light-blue background. One photo is valid for all three
applications.
How old can the Navy photo be? Is a 3-month-old photo
acceptable?
Indian Navy generally accepts photographs taken within the last 3
months. Photos older than 3 months may cause issues at document verification during Stage II.
Always enter the actual date the photo was taken — entering a false or more recent date on an old photo is
considered fraud and can result in permanent disqualification.
What is the correct pose for holding the slate in the Navy
photo?
Hold the black slate flat in front of your chest with both hands,
as if carrying a flat tray. Elbows should be slightly bent, arms naturally extended forward. The slate must be
clearly visible and fully readable — it must not cover your face or chin. Your face should be
centered, forward-facing, with a plain white or light-blue background behind you.
What background color is required for the Navy Agniveer
photo?
The Indian Navy official notification requires a white or light-blue plain
solid-color background. Colored walls, printed studio backdrops, curtains, or dark backgrounds are
not allowed. Studio backgrounds that are not plain white or light blue will lead to photo rejection. Take the
photo against a plain white wall or a light-blue sheet for best results.
Is my photo uploaded to any server? Is this tool safe and
private?
Completely private. All processing happens inside your browser
using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your photo is never sent to any server, never stored, never
transmitted anywhere. To verify this yourself, open your browser's Developer Tools (F12 → Network tab) — you
will see zero upload requests made by this tool. Closing the tab deletes everything immediately.
How to make a Navy slate photo for INET 2026 — step by
step?
Step 1: Enter your full name (as on Aadhaar) and the date your
photo was taken in the left panel.
Step 2: Keep the black slate selected (Navy-required
color).
Step 3: Upload a photo where your hands are held in front of your
chest.
Step 4: Drag the blue-bordered slate onto your hands and resize from the corner
handles until it fits naturally.
Step 5: Click Download to get a 10–50 KB JPG file ready
for the joinindiannavy.gov.in portal.
⚠️ INET 2026 application deadline: 6 April 2026 (17:00
hrs).
Can I upload an iPhone HEIC photo or PNG to this
tool?
Yes. This tool accepts any image format your browser can read — including
HEIC (iPhone photos), PNG, WEBP, BMP, and JPG. Regardless of the format you upload, the final
downloaded output is always a JPG/JPEG file as required by the Indian Navy portal. No
separate conversion app needed.
Why is the Navy photo getting rejected on the portal? Common
reasons?
The most common Navy photo rejection reasons are:
- File size above 50 KB or below 10 KB — use this tool to auto-compress.
- Wrong date format — must be DD-MM-YYYY, not DD/MM/YYYY or any other variant.
- Wrong file format — only JPG/JPEG accepted, not PNG or PDF.
- Colored or dark background — must be white or light-blue only.
- Slate covering the face — position slate at chest level, face fully visible.
- Name unreadable on slate — text must be clear and in capital letters.
- Old photo with a fake recent date — always enter the real DOP.
This tool automatically prevents the first three errors every time you download.
What is the Navy Agniveer signature file size? How to upload
it?
The Indian Navy Agniveer SSR/MR application requires your signature to be
5 KB to 20 KB in JPG format. Sign on plain white paper using a black pen, photograph or scan
it with good lighting, and resize if needed before uploading. The signature file is separate from the slate
photo (which must be 10–50 KB). Both must be uploaded during the online application on joinindiannavy.gov.in.
Should the Navy slate photo be passport size or full
body?
The Navy slate photo should be a passport-style portrait —
showing your face, shoulders, and both hands holding the slate in front of your chest. It is not a
full-body photo. The frame should capture from the top of your head down to approximately your
waist or hands. Your face must be clearly centered and not obscured by the slate at any point.
What is the INET 2026 application fee and last date?
The INET 2026 examination fee is ₹550 + 18% GST, payable online
via net banking, UPI, or Visa/Master/RuPay cards. The application window is open from 14 March 2026 to
6 April 2026 (17:00 hrs) at joinindiannavy.gov.in. Your admit card is issued only after successful
payment. The fee is non-refundable under all circumstances.
Does the Navy slate photo need to be taken on the same day as
the application?
No, the photo does not need to be taken on the exact day of application. However,
it must have been taken within the last 3 months. The DOP (Date of Photograph) printed on the
slate must match the actual date the photo was taken. The photo must look recent and clearly represent your
current appearance. Wearing glasses or having significantly changed appearance from an old photo can cause
issues at document verification.
Can I wear spectacles or a cap in the Navy slate
photo?
Generally, spectacles are not recommended in government exam
photos unless medically required. Caps, hats, or any headgear are not allowed in the Navy
photo. Your ears should be visible (hair must not cover ears). No sunglasses allowed. The face must be fully
visible, well-lit, and directly facing the camera with a neutral expression.
What should I wear in the Navy Agniveer slate photo?
There is no strict uniform rule for the slate photo stage. However, wear
light-colored formal or semi-formal clothing — a light shirt is ideal as it provides good
contrast against the black slate. Avoid white shirts if the background is also white (poor contrast). Avoid
casual torn clothing. The overall appearance should be neat, clean, and professional.
