FataFatResize.in's UPSC Photo Tool is a free, browser-based utility built specifically for UPSC aspirants. Unlike generic photo resizers that require you to know exact pixel values and KB limits yourself, this tool comes pre-configured with the official 2026 UPSC specifications for photographs and triple signatures.
The tool has two core functions: the Photo Resizer handles your passport photograph — resizing, compressing, and converting it to the correct JPG format within the 20–200 KB limit. The Triple Signature Generator takes a single signature image and produces a UPSC-compliant output with three signatures stacked vertically, compressed to 20–100 KB, within 350–500 pixels.
Upload your photo and download a compliant result in under 3 seconds. All processing happens immediately in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API — no server queues, no waiting.
Your photo never leaves your device. You can disconnect Wi-Fi after the page loads — the tool works fully offline. This is the strongest possible proof that your biometric photograph stays private.
No subscription, no watermark on output, no hidden charges, no login required. Process unlimited photos and signatures for any UPSC exam for free — forever.
Upload PNG, WEBP, HEIC, or any common format — the tool converts everything to JPG automatically. Transparent backgrounds are filled with white, which meets UPSC's plain white background requirement.
An iterative compression algorithm automatically finds the right JPEG quality level to bring your output file within UPSC's KB range while maintaining the sharpest possible image quality.
Fully responsive — works on smartphones, tablets, and desktops. No app installation required. Tested on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on both Android and iOS.
Select "Photo" for your passport photograph or "Photo ID" for your Aadhaar / Photo ID card upload. The requirements box updates with the correct file size range and file name for each type.
Choose "350×350 px (Recommended)" — this is the safe square size that passes UPSC portal validation. UPSC 2026 does not mandate exact pixel dimensions, but 350×350 px is the widely accepted safe minimum. You can also use 500×500 px or set custom dimensions if needed.
Select 100 KB or 150 KB as your target — this gives a comfortable margin within the 20–200 KB range. The tool's smart compression algorithm adjusts JPEG quality automatically to hit your chosen target. Avoid going above 200 KB (portal hard limit) or below 20 KB (portal minimum).
Click the upload zone or drag and drop your image. Supports JPG, PNG, HEIC (iPhone), and WEBP up to 15 MB. The original file size is shown immediately and the compressed output size updates in real time as you adjust quality and zoom settings.
Use the Zoom slider to ensure your face covers at least 75% of the image (UPSC 3/4th face coverage rule). Both ear lobes must be visible. When satisfied, click the green Download button — the file saves as photo.jpg, which is the exact filename required by the UPSC portal.
Sign on a plain white sheet of paper three times, one below the other, using black ink. Scan or clearly photograph the signatures. Ensure even, shadow-free lighting. If you're uploading a single signature, the tool will replicate it three times vertically — either approach is acceptable.
Upload your signature image to the Triple Signature Generator tab. The tool automatically creates three vertically-stacked copies with proper spacing, compresses to 20–100 KB, ensures dimensions fall between 350–500 pixels, and applies a clean white background. The live preview shows the exact output.
The status badge shows "Compliant" in green if your output is within UPSC limits, or warns in red if the file size is out of range. Once compliant, click Download — the file saves as signature.jpg, the exact filename required by the UPSC application portal.
| Scenario | Before (Problem Input) | After (Tool Output) |
|---|---|---|
| UPSC Passport Photo — Studio JPEG | ✗ 1200×1600 px, 950 KB JPEG ✗ Way above 200 KB limit ✗ Portal throws file size error |
✓ Resized to 350×350 px ✓ Compressed to 145 KB (within 20–200 KB) ✓ Downloads as photo.jpg |
| UPSC Photo — Mobile PNG | ✗ 4032×3024 px, 3.8 MB PNG (iPhone) ✗ PNG format rejected by portal ✗ Face too small in frame |
✓ Converted to JPG automatically ✓ Cropped to 350×350 px, face centered via Zoom ✓ 85 KB output — within range |
| Triple Signature — Full Page Scan | ✗ 2480×3508 px, 4.5 MB PNG ✗ Single signature (not three) ✗ Way too large in KB and px |
✓ Three copies stacked vertically ✓ 450×480 px (within 350–500 px) ✓ Compressed to 72 KB (within 20–100 KB) |
| Wrong File — Over 200 KB Photo | ✗ 420 KB JPEG photo ✗ Portal rejects immediately ✗ "File size too large" error |
✓ Set target to 150 KB ✓ Smart compression reduces to 138 KB ✓ Quality preserved, face sharp |
| Wrong — Signature Below 20 KB | ✗ 14 KB over-compressed signature ✗ Portal rejects as "file too small" ✗ Single signature (not triple) |
✓ Tool auto-raises quality to hit 20+ KB ✓ Triple vertical stacking applied ✓ Output: 28 KB, compliant |
Problem: Studio and smartphone photos often exceed 500 KB–2 MB. The UPSC portal enforces a strict 200 KB maximum for photographs. Files above this are rejected instantly.
Fix: Set target file size to 150 KB in the Photo Resizer. The smart compression automatically brings your photo well within the 20–200 KB range.
Problem: Over-compressing a photo to reduce file size can push it below the 20 KB minimum, which is also rejected by the portal.
Fix: Keep quality slider above 75%. Choose 100 KB as your target — never 10 KB for photos. The tool warns if output falls below 20 KB.
Problem: iPhone photos save as HEIC. Screenshots save as PNG. UPSC only accepts JPG/JPEG — all other formats are blocked by the portal.
Fix: This tool converts any format to JPG automatically. Simply upload your PNG, HEIC, or WEBP and download a compliant JPG.
Problem: Many candidates arrange three signatures side by side (horizontal). UPSC specifically requires vertical stacking — one below the other. Horizontal arrangements are rejected.
Fix: Use the Triple Signature Generator tab. It automatically creates the correct vertical arrangement. Never arrange signatures manually in a photo editor.
Problem: Photos where the face is too small or off-center may be rejected during manual verification. UPSC requires the face to cover at least 75% of the photo area (3/4th face coverage).
Fix: Use the Zoom slider in the Photo Resizer to crop in closer until your face fills most of the frame. Ensure both ear lobes are visible.
Problem: UPSC requires a plain white background. Photos taken outdoors, against colored walls, curtains, or patterned backgrounds are rejected during scrutiny.
Fix: Retake your photo against a plain white wall with good even lighting. This tool cannot change backgrounds — only resize and compress. For background removal, use a dedicated tool first, then bring the PNG here for white background fill.
Problem: The signature has a stricter 20–100 KB limit (not 200 KB). Many candidates use the same settings as their photo and end up with a 120–150 KB signature that gets rejected.
Fix: Always use the dedicated Triple Signature Generator tab, not the Photo Resizer, for your signature. The generator automatically targets the 20–100 KB range.
Problem: UPSC 2026 captures a live photo via webcam or QR code during form submission. If your uploaded photo doesn't closely resemble your live capture (due to old photos, heavy editing, or someone else's photo), the form will not submit.
Fix: Always use a genuine recent photo of yourself. Do not use heavily filtered, altered, or old photographs. The uploaded photo must match your live appearance.
The most competitive exam in India. Your application photo and signature must meet exact technical standards. This tool ensures compliant uploads for Prelims, Mains, and all stages.
Defence service examinations conducted by UPSC follow the same portal specifications. Use this tool for all UPSC-administered defence and police exam applications.
ESE candidates applying for technical central services use the same UPSC portal. Photo and signature requirements are identical — same tool, same presets.
MBBS graduates applying for CMS and other UPSC specialist service exams follow the same upload specifications. No separate tool needed.
IFoS candidates often apply simultaneously with CSE. Since portal specs are identical, the same resized photo and triple signature are valid for both applications.
New to UPSC applications? This tool handles all the technical requirements automatically. Just upload your photo, select your target KB, and download — no technical knowledge required.
A passport photograph is sensitive biometric data. Combined with your signature and personal details, it can be misused if exposed. Here is a complete, transparent explanation of how this tool handles your data.
All resizing, compression, format conversion, and triple signature stacking happens in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. No remote server is involved at any point.
After the page loads, no network requests are made when you process your photo. Verify yourself: open DevTools (F12) → Network tab → upload your photo. Zero outgoing requests.
We have no database and no cloud storage. When you close the browser tab, all image data is wiped from memory. Nothing persists anywhere on our end.
Disconnect your internet after the page loads. The tool continues to work without interruption — the strongest possible proof your photo never leaves your device.
